Section description

The route from Gałąźnia Mała to Leśny Dwór is calm and safe, suitable both for beginners and families with children. The current is gentle, and more demanding stretches appear only occasionally – mainly as small natural obstacles (fallen trees) that add a slightly adventurous character. The river leads through the Słupia Valley Landscape Park – winding between fields and forests, flowing into picturesque dam reservoirs and valleys with steep, forested slopes. Along the way you'll meet water birds, and on the calmer stretches you'll spot signs of beavers or hear cranes.

Two lakes – two faces of the Słupia

You pass through two dam reservoirs. Konradowo – a vast, calm mirror of water surrounded by forest; here the first of two hydroelectric plants and a portage (a chance to stretch your legs and see the historic hydro-engineering infrastructure). Krzynia – long and narrow, resembling a fjord set among the Kashubian forests; at its end a second, easy portage by the Krzynia power station. Both lakes are the result of a system of small hydroelectric plants, harmoniously fitted into nature.

Adventurous atmosphere and a hidden finish

After passing Krzynia the Słupia speeds up again and leads along the bottom of a picturesque valley – the passing meadows and groves give the impression of being untouched by civilisation. The finish is Leśny Dwór, hidden among the trees – a place with a special atmosphere where you can rest and organise a bonfire.

A shorter version – to Krzynia

For those who prefer shorter trips, the trip can be ended earlier, in Krzynia – about 12 km and 3.5–4 hours. It's a great option for families with children and beginners.

Why choose this section of the Słupia?

  • a gentle current and an easy, safe route – great for a first time and for families,
  • two dam reservoirs (Konradowo, Krzynia) and historic hydroelectric plants,
  • the heart of the Słupia Valley Landscape Park – beavers, cranes, water birds,
  • the option to shorten the route to Krzynia (~12 km),
  • an atmospheric finish in hidden Leśny Dwór.
